​Food Conscious is an organization that believes in the power of social enterprise to create a vibrant and sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
 Our mission is to create a robust food-based economic empowerment system that strengthens our local economy, progresses the local and sustainable food movement, enhances the production of healthier more nutritious food products, decreases our environmental impact and revitalizes our distressed communities. We carry out our mission through the application of social and for-profit business strategy to food-based philanthropic projects and food system entrepreneurship throughout our region.

  Our strategy for building stronger local food systems is to:

• Formulate impact-oriented partnerships between the local food and business community
• Apply sustainable operation and resource strategy to food system projects
• Implement revenue generating business models in the formation of philanthropic food system projects
• Utilize existing community assets and infrastructure  to reduce start-up and operational project costs, while renewing the vitality of the surrounding community
• Work alongside government officials and policy makers to enhance the impact of sustainable food-based social enterprise
• Educate adults and children on the impact our food choices have on our local economy, health, food-security, environment, and ethical standards
• Develop avenues for increasing civic pride and responsibility
